Passes, passes, passes!

February 22nd, 2009

I know you’re all excited for the Watchmen sneak preview, but we have plenty of other passes to hand out! We now have passes for both Pontypool and One Week. Peter has already told you why you should go see Pontypool here, so I won’t worry too much about it. Suffice it to say it will be awesome, and we have plenty of passes to hand out right now. The screening is on Monday, March 2nd at Innis Town Hall, 7pm.

The other film we have passes for is One Week, starring Joshua Jackson (of Dawson’s Creek fame). In the film, he plays Ben Tyler, a Canadian man riding his motorcycle from Toronto, ON to Tofino, BC and reflecting about life.

The screening for One Week is on Thursday, February 26th, 7pm at the Varsity Cinemas.

You can pick up passes from the CINSSU Office anytime this week.

Watchmen is coming!

February 22nd, 2009

Lots of you have been asking about the status of the Watchmen passes, so here’s the dealio: as mentioned earlier, this time the demand is so high for passes that CINSSU has decided to raffle them off. We are holding office hours all of this week, so drop by and leave us your name, e-mail and phone number, and we’ll get back to you if you win. Simple!

Here are the specifics:
- the raffle will go on throughout all of the week of Monday, the 23rd of February. Office hour times are posted below
- winners will be contacted after 6pm on Friday, the 27th of February. You can pick up your pass either Monday, March 2nd or Tuesday, March 3rd (that is, the day of the screening) at the CINSSU Office. Remember, you MUST pick up your pass at the Office – we will not hold the pass for you at the Bloor!
- The screening is on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7pm at the BLOOR CINEMA. The screening is NOT going to be at Innis Town Hall. Do NOT go to Innis Town Hall for the screening!

Who Watches the Watchmen?

February 17th, 2009

You guys will.

On March 3rd @ The Bloor Cinema @ 7pm.

****UPDATE****
Due to the high demand for passes, we will be raffling them off.
Here is how this will work:
- Between Monday, Feb 23rd and Friday, Feb 27th ballots can be filled out in our office during office hours.
- Winners will be informed Friday Feb 27th, after 6:00PM. Winners can pick up their passes on March 2nd and March 3rd during office hours.
- Office hours:

Monday: 12-4
Tuesday: 2-4
Wednesday: 12-4
Thursday: 11-3
Friday: 1-5

Here’s a tip: Go to the Bloor Cinema to watch the Oscars and you may get a chance to win a pass to see Watchmen early along with a whole slew of Watchmen Merch.

And if you don’t get a pass, well guess what… word on the street is that a sizable number of people will be let in at the last minute from the rush line. So if you don’t get a pass. Line up early. Phantom Menace style.

Don’t forget to thank Warner Brothers for making this possible. (Thank Fox for letting it come out too.)

No plans for Valentine’s?

February 11th, 2009

CINSSU’s got the ultimate Valentine’s film screening! Come watch Academy Award winning West Side Story (1961), on Friday the 13th at 7:00PM. Starring Natalie Wood and Richard Beymer, the film was a sensation, sweeping 10 Oscars in 1961 for its supporting Actor (George Chakiris) and Actress (Rita Moreno), as well as Best Director and Best Picture. A Romeo and Juliet modeled tragedy set in 1950s Manhattan; ill-fated lovers, gang warfare, and juvenile delinquency as told through breathtaking, meticulously choreographed, dance-song sequences and an epic soundtrack.

Come out tomorrow for our weekly Free Friday Film! This week we’re screening The Edge, directed by Lee Tamahori, who famously directed Pierce Brosnan and Halle Berry in Die Another Day. Fortunately this is a much better movie than that. It’s also weird to see Alec Baldwin in a straight-up actioner after watching all three seasons of 30 Rock. The film screens tomorrow, February 6th, at Innis Town Hall, 7pm. Trailer below.
